This fun seasonal treat is perfect for springtime and Easter! It also came in incredibly useful as an activity to keep the little ones occupied in this new “normal” of self isolation and social distancing. We have two ansy toddlers who seem to bicker and fight about as much as they play, if not more-so (insert sigh)! Keeping them busy helps tremendously with curbing the behavior and distracting with various food or art projects. This one kind of feels like both! This super easy recipe is both entertaining and easy, not to mention a great treat to enjoy while watching a movie and hopefully giving you a break. The recipe is the standard one you find on the back of the cereal box, with a fun creative twist!
With the creation of this treat, I talked with my kiddos about how spring is full of new life, from trees and flowers in bloom, to little chicks hatching (my daughter had incubated eggs in her classroom that hatched into chicks) – a perfect springtime experience! While this spring is looking entirely different than anyone could have anticipated, I hope that this season with all of us staying at home brings new things to life as each of us figure out how to incorporate new intentionality with not only our time, but with out thought-life and perspective about life during these uncertain times…
May your home be blessed with new things sprouting out of this opportunity to approach life with a fresh start, and a greater appreciation for all the things we so frequently take for granted. It’s so easy become distracted from them in the busyness and hustle bustle of life. As life slows down for us all for a while, may you find joy in the simplest of things…Use this time to simplify life. Appreciate the things and people that truly matter and the small things that we may normally be too busy to savor. This time is forcing us to slow down, to not take anything for granted, to know we are all in this thing together…amidst the uncertainty and fear, my hope is that we can collectively embrace what this opportunity has to teach and refine in each of us. There is something in it for everyone if we quiet our souls and are open enough to listen…
“Simplicity is not about deprivation. Simplicity is about a greater appreciation for the things that really matter.” – Unknown
“The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak.” – Hans Hofmann
